on the slopes of buffaure
What a more romantic way to spend Valentine’s day than waking up at dawn among the snow – covered peaks so as to be the first to ski down the still untouched slopes, when the sun starts to peek out from behind the mountains, and then stop off in a mountain hut for a super breakfast?
This is the program of Trentino Ski Sunrise, an event which, on Tuesday February 14th , takes place in the ski area of Buffaure, which can be reached from the village of Pozza di Fassa.
The meeting point is at 6:45 am, at the departure of the ski lifts, at the Pozza-Buffaure cable car. From there, in a short stretch that can be covered on foot or with skis/snowboards, you will reach the nearby Col de Valvacin chair lift which will lead you right up under the ridges. Here the ski instructors of the Ski School of Pozza will explain the landscape and recount some curiosities about the area, while the sun begins to rise.
And after this recharge of positive energy in company of the ski instructors, you will tackle the Valvacin red slope twice: on the second pass, in particular, there is a tasty pit stop at the restaurant El Zedron mountain hut at 2354 m, where a rich breakfast will be prepared with traditional cakes and desserts and local cold cuts and cheeses and also honey, yoghurt, eggs and Trentino apples.
It is the perfect way to start the day on the snow in the right spirit, surrounded from the most beautiful Dolomite peaks: from the Sassolungo and Sassopiatto to the Marmolada, Catinaccio and Sella Group. The other ski lifts will also be open from 8:30 am so that you can tackle all the other slopes of the ski area or take the Sellaronda route.
Our extra tip for you: To make Valentine’s day even more special, Buffaure offers the possibility to stop and sleep at high altitude: At Baita Cuz with its beautiful panoramic rooms and an outdoor barrel sauna on the terrace with a view of Catinaccio and at Rifugio Buffaure, at 2050 m, a few steps from the arrival of the cable car and the new ski school area.
The experience Trentino Ski Sunrise in Buffaure (also accessible to walkers) is offered at the price of 45 euros for adults and 30 euros for children aged 6 to 12, while it is free for children under 6 years of age. The price includes the ascent by cable car and the two ascents by chairlift (including the descent of walkers), the assistance of the ski instructors of the ski school and breakfast in the mountain hut. Reservations must be made by 4.30 pm on February 13th – by contacting the booking office of the APT (Tourism Board) Val di Fassa ( +39 0462 609666 or infobooking@ fassa.com).
